A chassis base and a plasma display apparatus having the same are provided to secure rigidity of the chassis base and satisfy thermal conductivity thereof by forming the chassis base using two different metal materials. A chassis base includes an inner layer(12) and an outer layer enclosing the inner layer. The inner layer is made of a metal material having good rigidity, and the outer layer is made of a metal material having high thermal conductivity and corrosion resistance. The inner layer is made of at least one of iron and copper. The outer layer is made of aluminum alloy. The inner layer and the outer layer are adhered to each other by bonding, pressing or coating.
