摘要 A method for coating a surface of molten metal contained in a continuous casting mold in a mini-mill is provided to prolong life of the copper plate and reduce deformation of the copper plate by lowering a surface temperature of a copper plate and reduce cracks formed on a surface part of a casting slab by lowering cooling rate of a casting slab on the molten metal surface of the continuous casting mold. A method for coating a surface of molten metal contained in a continuous casting mold in a mini-mill comprises: coating a coating solution comprising 500 to 650 g/L of Ni sulfamate, 3 to 10 g/L of nickel chloride and 30 to 50 g/L of boric acid to a thickness of 0.5 mm or more on a surface of molten metal of the mini-mill continuous casting mold ranging from an upper end of the casting mold to a point that is 100 mm distanced from the upper end of the casting mold; and controlling a current density of the coating solution to a range of 0.1 to 1.5 A/dm^2 and controlling a pH of the coating solution to a range of 3.8 to 4.3 during coating operation.
