<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrolyte membrane-electrode assembly in which decomposition of an electrolyte membrane at holding an OCV can be suppressed effectively. <P>SOLUTION: The assembly has a polyelectrolyte membrane, a first cathode catalyst layer arranged on one side of the polyelectrolyte membrane, a first anode catalyst layer arranged on the other side of the polyelectrolyte membrane, and a first gasket layer formed on at least one part of the end part of the first cathode catalyst layer. The assembly has a second cathode catalyst layer pinched by the electrolyte membrane and the first cathode catalyst layer, and/or a second anode catalyst layer pinched by the polyelectrolyte membrane and the first anode catalyst layer in a region where temperature becomes relatively higher on the surface of the assembly when generating electric power by using the assembly. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
