PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform resolution conversion of image data of arbitrary size to a desired image size by using a memory with small capacity. SOLUTION: Compressed data of arbitrary size are expanded by a JPEG expansion block 18, MCU by MCU, and input to a resizing block 26 in block units of 8×8 pixels. The resizing block 26 interpolates the input image data of 8×8 pixels in the block units by using an interpolation table, having combinations of interpolation coefficients as many as the number of the numerator (a) of a resizing rate a/b (a, b: natural numbers) specified by a CPU 14 in one cycle of the number of pixels of the denominator (b), as an interpolation table containing interpolation coefficients used for interpolation operation corresponding to the resizing rate a/b to generate resolution-converted image data.
