PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an optical scanner that prevents for example interference between optical components and interference with an optical path and that achieves a compact structure for the entire scanner, and also to obtain an image forming apparatus using the same. SOLUTION: The optical scanner is provided with a light source means, an optical deflector having a deflecting face, an incident optical system, and an image forming optical system having a first and a second optical elements. In this optical scanner, a first mirror is arranged in an optical path between the deflecting face and the second optical element while a second mirror is arranged in an optical path between the second optical element and the surface to be scanned. The second optical element has the optical axis made eccentric in the direction approaching the normal of the deflecting face, relative to the passing position of the main light beam in the subscanning cross section. The first mirror is arranged so that a luminous flux is reflected in the direction approaching the normal of the deflecting face in the subscanning cross section. The second optical element is disposed between the first and second mirrors. The optical scanner is also designed to satisfy conditional expression. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
