PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image transmission system in which an image to be output from an output device is hardly disturbed even if a transmission error occurs during transmitting packets. SOLUTION: A receiver 5 has an error detector 16 for detecting the presence or absence of a transmission error in a data region by using an error detection signal; a reproducer 17 for reproducing an image signal C in the data region if a transmission error is not detected in the data region, and operating in any one of two operation modes of a discrimination mode for invalidating the image signal C in the data region and a full reproduction mode for reproducing the image signal C in the data region regardless of the presence or absence of a transmission error in the data region, if a transmission error is detected in the data region; and a switching means for switching the operation mode of the reproducing section 17.
