PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten a rod-shaped spring for energizing a latch lever to comprise a lock mechanism. SOLUTION: A seat slide device has the rod-shaped spring 11 which is composed of a first spring part 11a in which a bent part approximately in a V-shape is provided in the central part 11c of a rod member and a pair of second spring parts 11b whose outer ends are formed from folded-back parts 11d generated by folding back the rod member toward the center of the first spring part 11a from the two ends of the first spring part 11a and inner ends 11e are formed by elongating the tips of the rod member in such a way as approaching each other, wherein the inner ends 11e of the second spring parts 11b and the folded-back parts 11d are abutted to the inside of the bend forming part of an upper rail 2, while the central part 11c is engaged with the latch lever 8.
