UPLINK TRANSMISSION METHOD IN HANDOFF

An uplink data transmission method in handoff is provided to distribute the data throughput of a controller to a base station by determining a superintendence BTS(Base Transceiver System) that performs diversity combining and decoding on soft bit streams. When a make-before-brake handoff is determined, a terminal is allocated uplink resources from each BTS(S710) and determines a superintendence BTS for data combining(S720). It is checked whether the terminal supports IR(Incremental Redundancy) transmission(S730). If the terminal does not support IR transmission, a soft bit stream including a systematic bit and a parity bit is transmitted to each BTS(S740). If the terminal supports a partial IR transmission, the terminal transmits a soft bit stream including a systematic bit and the first parity bit to the superintendence BTS and a soft bit stream including the systematic bit and the second parity bit to a non-superintendence BTS(S760). If the terminal supports complete IR transmission, the terminal transmits a soft bit stream including the systematic bit and the first parity bit to the superintendence BTS and a soft bit stream including second and third parity bits to the non-superintendence BTS(S770).
