A car audio system is provided to make a PMP(Portable Multimedia Player) operable within a car audio system and detachable from the car audio system if necessary, thereby improving the convenience of a user. A car audio system is composed of a car audio terminal(10) and a PMP(20) detachably mounted on the car audio terminal(10). The car audio terminal(10) includes a telecommunication connector(13) for exchanging data with the PMP(20) and a controller(16) for processing audio data of the PMP(20). The PMP(20) includes a PMP telecommunication connector(22) connected to the telecommunication connector(13) and an external input display controller(23) for displaying image data of the car audio terminal(10) on a display unit and supplying an inner audio signal to the car audio terminal(10) through the PMP telecommunication connector(13).
