<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new bifidus bacillus proliferation-accelerating agent having a high proliferation-accelerating effect for a wide range bifidus bacilli, a beverage or food containing the same, and also a method for proliferating the bifidus bacilli by using the same. <P>SOLUTION: This bifidus bacilli proliferation-accelerating agent contains 1 kind or ≥2 kinds selected from a group consisting of sweet basil, oregano, red pepper, bitter gourd, persimmon, chrysanthemum, Brassica rapa, potherb mustard, rocket salad, barille, sorrel, buckwheat, indian spinach and kidney bean sprout.
