PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem that, in a refrigerator which switches off a display device when a door is closed, the display device is not lighted even when the door is opened when a door open/closure detection means is out of order and it is impossible to confirm what is displayed. SOLUTION: The controller of the refrigerator consists of a control means 12 equipped with the door open/closure judging means 13, a display device lighting time determination means 14, a display device lighting time adjusting means 15, a display content determination means 16 and the door open/closure detection means 11. Set temperature and operation state can be confirmed even when the door open/closure detection means is out of order by repeating lighting on and off the display on the display device 17 at every fixed time period while the door is in closed state.
