PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for activating a fuel oil, capable of effectively improving the fuel oil to have an effect of reducing its consumption, by activating the fuel oil used in an engine, etc., for a large-sized car or a marine vessel which uses a large amount of the fuel oil difficult to be activated, such as a light oil and a heavy oil, with an activating device using magnetism. SOLUTION: This method for activating the fuel oil comprises continuously conducting serial circulating operations of the fuel oil 2, so as to gradually enhance activity of the fuel oil 2 in a fuel tank 1, and then supplying the fuel oil 2 of which the activity is enough enhanced to the engine 7 by a pump 6, wherein each of the circulation operations comprises pumping out the fuel oil 2 stored in the fuel tank 1 by a pump 3, then introducing the oil into the inside of a fluorine-based resin tube 5 arranged in a magnetic field of the activating device 4 using the magnetism, and passing the oil through the tube, so as to activate the oil, and further returning the oil to the fuel tank 1.
