WELDING WIRE AND METHOD OF WELDING

A welding wire with which weld properties including toughness are improved and a stable welding operation is possible. The welding wire is one obtained by superposing flux-free metallic materials so as to result in a desired weld composition and interposing an alkali metal compound between the layers. Welding with the welding wire is conducted in a high-purity inert-gas atmosphere.
