The device has nitrogen dioxide NO2 reduction catalytic converter (12) which is provided as a part at the flow end of the exhaust gas aftertreatment device. The NO2 fraction is selectively catalytically converted into nitrogen monoxide NO as well as environment friendly gas by means of a reducing agent. An independent claim is also included for aftertreatment of oxygen containing exhaust gases.
