A driveshaft assembly (10) has a tubular element (42) with yokes (44) coupled at the ends of the tubular element. The yoke (44) includes a stub shaft portion for inserting into and welding the yoke (44) to the tubular element (42). A receiving portion is present in the yoke (44) to receive a universal joint (48). A balancing portion (60) is present on the yoke (44) to balance the rotational imbalance of the driveshaft (10). The balancing portion (60) includes a desired mass of material so that in order to rotationally balance the driveshaft (10), mass may be removed from the balancing portion (60) of the yoke (44).
