PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device of high resolution, independent of a type of a substrate. SOLUTION: In the display device in which a plurality of pairs of pixel electrodes 114 and thin film transistors for controlling the pixel electrodes 114 are provided in a matrix, active layers 109 having wider pattern areas than gate electrodes 106 of the thin film transistors are provided in the thin film transistors, and control electrodes 100 other than the gate electrodes 106, which control currents flowing between source electrodes 111 and drain electrodes 112 of the thin film transistors, are provided on the same sides as the gate electrodes 106 of the active layers 109 in at least parts not overlapping the gate electrodes 106, out of formation areas of the active layers 109 through insulating layers.
