PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a metal-ceramics composite material composed of SiC/Si-Al in which the formation of aluminum carbide is prevented, and which has excellent durability. SOLUTION: A preform 10 containing SiC powder and an organic binder, a vessel 11 in which solid Al 12 is stored having non-permeability to molten Al and having permeability by being reacted with molten Si, and solid Si 13 are installed in a furnace, and heating is performed to a temperature exceeding the melting point of Si. In this way, the solid Si 13 is melted, and made to permeate into the preform 10 so as to obtain an SiC/Si composite material 10a. On the other hand, the molten Si 13a is made to permeate into the vessel 11, the vessel 11 is changed into a vessel 11a having permeability to the molten Al 12a, the molten Al 12a therein is made to flow out from the vessel 11a, and the molten Al 12a is mutually diffused with the molten Si 13a in the SiC/Si composite material 10a. In this way, the SiC/Si-Al composite material is obtained without forming Al<SB>4</SB>C<SB>3</SB>. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
