[MEANS FOR SOLVING PROBLEMS] A device for correcting an error in product code block composed of C1 codes in the row direction and C2 codes in the column direction. A C1 decoder carries out C1 correction of an even number C1 composed of even bytes of the C1 code and an odd number C1 composed of odd bytes of the C1 code. For example, when the minimum humming distance of the C1 codes is 7, C1 correction is carried out for up to 3-byte correction. When either the result of the C1 correction of the even number C1 or the odd number C1 is correction impossibility, and when one of the result is 3-byte correction and the other is correction impossibility or 3-byte correction, a C2 decoder carries out disappearance correction in C2 correction.</p> |
