PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a member for a welded structure having high mechanical strength and toughness while maintaining satisfactory weldability, and, e.g., used for a gear or the like of a reduction gear in a large-sized vessel. SOLUTION: This material for a welded structure comprises by weight 0.17 to 0.21% C, 0.1 to 0.4% Si, 0.4 to 1% Mn, 1.5 to 4.5% Ni, 0.5 to 3.5% Cr, 0.5 to 3% Mo and 0.06 to 0.15% V, and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities.
