The shaft (2) is connected to the hub (4) by axial joining. The outer joining areas (6,7) of both of the components (2,4) are made suitable for a press fitting. One of the contact areas (6,7) is provided with a start-up chamfer and one of the areas (6,7) is hardened right before joining without any further processing. The hub (4) can be heated and than attached to the shaft (2) using pressure acting on the sides. After joining the unit (2,4) can be trained using axial pressure simultaneously.
