The method involves initiating a parking place searching at a destination place with the entry of a motor vehicle into the destination, A parking place category and attribute such as parking fee and maximum parking time, are automatically determined. Preferences for the freely selectable parking place category is entered and considered. Parking place requirement is entered during start of navigation and considered to begin the travel route. An independent claim is also included for a device for automatic parking place searching at a given destination place and/or at present location or a nearby area of the destination or location with help of a navigation system in a motor vehicle.
