An apparatus and a method for jointing rubber sheets are provided to permit the joint portion to have a uniform thickness and quality, and to produce a flat, round or endless rubber sheet blank. An apparatus for jointing rubber sheets, comprises a first holding unit(21) for holding one of two joint end portions in a manner that the holding is releasable; a second holding unit(22) arranged to be movable relatively to the first holding unit so as to hold the other of two joint end portions in a manner that the holding is releasable; and an operating unit(47) for pressure contacting end surfaces of two joint end portions which are held by the first holding unit and the second holding unit, respectively, by the relative movement between the first holding unit and the second holding unit. The first holding unit and the second holding unit have opposed surfaces where holder portions are formed so that the holder portions are engaged and superimposed with each other. |
