The lens has optical transparent closing units tightly closing at respective opposite ends of a tubular body. Optical units are positioned within a tubular shaped body (12). Two chambers are formed in the tubular shaped body. The chambers are filled with liquid or gel form optical media. The optical media in one the chambers has a refractive index different from that of the other liquid or gel form optical media in another chamber. An independent claim is also included for an endoscope with a rod lens.
