The invention relates to a wiper device (10), particularly for a motor vehicle, comprising at least one gear mechanism (11) and a device for reducing the flank clearance of toothed elements in engaged toothed gearwheels (13,14). According to prior art eccentric bushings are used to reduce the tooth flank clearance. Eccentric bushings, however, increase production costs for the gear mechanism as a result of the unit costs thereof and the effort required to manufacture and mount said bushings. The aim of the invention is to reduce tooth flank clearance in the future. According to the invention, the wiper device is provided with a bearing (18) on the housing of the gear mechanism (12). Said bearing is used to mount a shaft which is provided with at least one toothed wheel (13). The bearing (18) is provided with a device used to press engaging toothed wheels (13, 14) against each other.
