A spacer element (11) has a central opening (12) and several spaced openings are disposed around the central opening for conducting flow medium (15) through the spacer element. The spacer element has opposite surfaces and several projections (31) extending from each surface. The projections have support areas formed on top of the projections oriented parallel to the opposite surfaces of the spacer element. A filter element is disposed between two adjacent disc-shaped spacer elements.
