The seat can be longitudinally moved by sliding an upper rail (2) permanently joined to the lower surface of the seat along a lower rail (1) fixed to the floor of the vehicle. Both rails (1, 2) are provided with lateral borders bent (23) in order to engage with each other. One of the joined areas is equipped with a sliding unit assembled of a number of spherical elements (6). A plastic support element (3, 30) designed in a wedge shape (31) is positioned along one side at the bottom (1c) of the lower rail (1) in order to prevent the seat from tilting to the back or to the side when pulled to the very front or rear.
