<p>An emanator device for emitting an active agent into the air comprises a bottle 10 for the active agent, such as a fragrance. The bottle includes a wick 18 which transfers fluid to a dispersing section 20, which is adapted to accelerate the emission of the agent, e.g. by heating or using a fan. The container and dispersing section incorporate co-operating engagement means 14 adapted to allow the container and dispersing section to be secured to each other. The engagement means may be a thread 14 formed on the outer surface of the neck 12 of the bottle. The thread incorporates two flats 14a, 14b which form gaps in the thread which run lengthways along the neck. The bottle is received in an opening in the dispersing section. The interior wall of the opening has projections 24a, 24b which are sized to co-operate with the gaps in the thread of the bottle. The presence of the projections requires the gaps in the thread on the bottle and prevents inappropriate bottles being attached to the dispersing section. Alternatively the neck of the bottle may include a recess (40, Fig. 8) which receives projections (42a, 42b, 42c, Fig. 5) when the device is assembled. The device is particularly for use an air freshener of the type that is plugged into an electrical socket.</p> |
