A polyester shaped yarn and a method for manufacturing the polyester shaped yarn are provided to form a section of a twisted yarn in a lozenge shape, thereby improving property stability, spinning stability, gloss, softness, and preventing see-through. A polymer having intrinsic viscosity of 0.5 to 0.7 is spun at 250 to 300 degrees by using a spinneret(2) having an inclined plane facing down from a center of a circle of a top side of the spinneret to a certain point of the outside, and having polymer discharge holes placed at the same distance from the center of the circle. The spun polymer is cooled. The cooled polymer passes through an oil feed roller(3-1), and a first to third godet rollers(5-7). The manufactured polyester shaped yarn has 6.0 to 50 denier of single fiber fineness. Strength of the polyester shaped yarn is 2.5g/de to 6.0g/de. Elongation of the polyester shaped yarn is 15% to 50%. A ratio of a major axis to a minor axis of a twisted yarn is 1.0 to 10.0. A section of the twisted yarn is a lozenge. |
