A safety guard 10 for a power take off (PTO) comprises a guard body 12 for positioning over the power take off shaft (and yoke), at least one lever 30 pivotally mounted on the guard body, said at least one lever 30 having a locking portion 38 that extends into a groove (24, fig.4) on a power take off or a groove 28 on a guard bearing 26 mounted on the power take off when in the locked position, said locking portion being removed from said groove when the lever is unlocked. The guard may have two levers, with said levers additionally comprising locking tongues 46 which also engage groove 24/28. Locking portions 38 may be in the form of cams. The safety guard 10, and the guard bearing 26 if present, remains stationary while the power take off is rotating. The PTO may belong to an agricultural tractor. |
