The method involves starting the measurement recording program of the borehole probe (100), inserting the borehole probe in a leg (61) of the U-shaped earth heat probe (6), allowing the borehole probe to freely lower to the U-shaped foot of the earth heat probe, recording temperature measurement values with the borehole probe in the liquid during the free descent and rinsing out the cordless borehole probe by applying pressure to the other leg of the earth heat probe. An independent claim is also included for a rinsing out arrangement with a collection device for a borehole probe.
