A driving method of a plasma display panel is provided to restrict the image quality degradation generated when emission corresponding to gray scale weighted values assigned to respective subfields is not executed, by varying the voltage value of sustain pulse applied to at least one subfield. In a driving method of a plasma display panel comprising plural X electrodes(X) and Y electrodes([Y1:Yn]) arranged in parallel and plural address electrodes arranged across the X and Y electrodes at predetermined intervals to define discharge cells in each crossing region, a unit frame for displaying an image is divided into plural subfields. Each subfield has an address period for selecting the discharge cell and sustain discharge periods(PS[1],PS[Q],PS[R]) for executing a sustain discharge in the selected discharge cell. Sustain pulse having a predetermined pulse voltage is alternately applied to the X and Y electrodes during the sustain discharge periods of the subfields. The sustain pulse applied during the sustain discharge period has a pulse voltage applied to at least one subfield and different from pulse voltages applied to the other subfields.
