An apparatus for providing digital multimedia broadcasting, and a method thereof are provided to enable a user to directly watch broadcasting of a wanted channel by selecting a channel in advance before entering a broadcasting service. A memory(300) stores electronic program guide information. A display unit(400) displays digital multimedia broadcasting and the electronic program guide information. A key input unit(600) receives a key input from a user. A control unit(200) converts the key inputted through the key input unit into a channel number for selecting the converted channel in a state that the stored electronic program guide information is displayed on a standby picture. The control unit displays the received digital multimedia broadcasting data through the display unit.
