A Bluetooth device search method in a mobile terminal is provided to reduce time for searching a previously searched peripheral Bluetooth device by using a nickname, and accurately discriminate the searched peripheral Bluetooth device. When a peripheral Bluetooth device is searched, an address of the peripheral Bluetooth device is obtained(301,303,305). It is checked whether the peripheral Bluetooth device has been initially searched by using an address of the peripheral Bluetooth device(309,311). When the peripheral Bluetooth device has been initially searched, a name request signal is transmitted to the peripheral Bluetooth device to obtain the name of the peripheral Bluetooth device(313). A specific nickname of the peripheral Bluetooth device is generated(315). The name, the nickname and the address of the peripheral Bluetooth device are registered in a Bluetooth management database(317).
