A driving method of a plasma display panel is provided to reduce the waiting time until a sustain discharge is performed after an address discharge and to execute stable sustain discharge by successively executing addressing and sustain discharges for each discharge cell group. In a driving method of a plasma display panel for dividing discharge cells into plural groups(G1,G2) in the extension direction of address electrodes from the upper side to the lower side of the panel and driving the panel according to each group, each sub field(SF1~SF8) is divided into reset periods(R1~R8) initializing all discharge cells, mixing driving periods(M1~M8) executing a predetermined number of sustain discharge, and addressing for each group; and correction sustain periods(C1~C8) comprising selection sustain periods(AS1~AS8) correcting the number of sustain discharge and common sustain periods(CS1~CS8) performing sustain discharge in common. A first positive voltage and a second voltage with the potential lower than that of the first voltage are applied to scan electrodes of a first group of plural groups in sequence. The first voltage and ground voltage are successively applied to the scan electrodes of the rest groups except the first group. The time for applying the first voltage to the other groups is longer than the time for applying the first voltage to the first group or the ground voltage and a third voltage with the potential higher than that of the first voltage are applied in sequence.
