A method for manufacturing a shank drill for machining a substrate hole and a shank drill are provided to obtain a precise hole by increasing the roundness, the cylindricalness, and the straightness of the outer surface of the shank drill. In a shank drill for machining a substrate hole, a metal shank(10) having the same length as that of a mold shank(20) is integrally formed with the interior of the mold shank. The mold shank is formed by fusing, compressing, and hardening a mixture of glass powder and stone powder. One side of the mold shank is cut to be tapered to form a flute(12) having a spiral cutting recess in the metal shank. An air groove(21) is formed on the outer periphery of the mold shank.
