A signal distribution apparatus and an inspection method of a digital media source are provided to compare the received digital signal with EDID(Extended Display Identification Data). A source device(10) transmits HDMI(High Definition Multimedia Interface) data. A target device(20) includes EDID data, receives the attenuation-prevented output from a distribution member(30) and displays a digital display signal and an audio signal. The distribution member detects the digital signal inputted from the source device and EDID data from the target device, distributes a signal with a proper type according to the setting condition and transmits the plural distributed signals to the target device. The source device comprises a DVD(Digital Video Disc), a video signal generator, a personal computer, a set top box and the like.
