摘要 #CMT# #/CMT# Controlling passenger's luggage at air terminal, for identifying presence of prohibited unit traces of, e.g. explosive comprising forming a gas stream of high intensity by sucking a part of interior air volume through a portion of a wall (15) of a luggage (10) and forcing the gas stream through the luggage, where the gas, e.g. air stream draws away traces of an explosive or narcotic type prohibited unit; and the gas stream is guided towards a spectrometer (26), where the spectrometer identifies the presence of the traces of the explosive or narcotic type prohibited unit, based on an ion mobility spectrometry method, where the stream forcing and the stream guiding are performed simultaneously, is new. #CMT#USE : #/CMT# Used for controlling luggage of a passenger, in an air terminal (claimed), before boarding an aircraft, for detecting the presence of an explosive or narcotic type prohibited unit or an undesirable object, where the luggage is driven in translation on a transport conveyor. #CMT#ADVANTAGE : #/CMT# The method allows to control the luggage successively, with a frequency comparable to other luggage control methods using X-ray. The utilization of the gas stream with high intensity increases the probability of detecting the traces of explosive or narcotic type prohibited units and permits to unhook the narcotic or explosive units hooked to the luggage. The gas stream is guided towards the spectrometer identifying the presence of the traces of the explosive or narcotic type prohibited unit, therefore avoiding the need for opening the luggage and hence avoiding loss of time. The forcing of the gas stream in the luggage and the guiding of the stream towards the spectrometer are performed simultaneously, therefore allowing to control the luggage with a speed compatible with speed of management of passengers between a free area and a boarding area and with speed compatible with other luggage control methods. The method utilizing the gas e.g. air, stream, is simple and inexpensive.
