A barcode scanner is used to register the type of product and its current price and this information is stored in a processor unit. The new price is calculated by the unit in response to a manual command, the new price being a fraction of the current price. This new price and a new barcode are sent to a printer for printing out onto adhesive labels for attaching to the product.
