<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical member for an LED backlight not necessary to install any excessive optical path in order to turn RGB colors of an LED array into white color by mixing it, capable of reducing its size and improving backlight efficiency. <P>SOLUTION: The optical member for the LED backlight 9 is constituted by a light guide plate 3 arranged in proximity to a light source 1 formed by arranging a plurality of LEDs 2R to 2B; a diffraction grating 4 arranged on a surface of the light guide plate 3 facing the LED array; and triangular prisms 5, diffusion patterns, or fine lens faces arranged on an opposite side surface of the light guide plate 3 at intervals. The light from the LED array is diffracted by the diffraction grating 4, and guided in the light guide plate 3 by total reflection, and emitted outside from the triangular prisms 5 or the like arranged on the opposite side surface of the light guide plate 3. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
