PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology of achieving quick and proper synthesis depending on an object in the case of synthesizing a plurality of images generated by a plural times of photographing shots. SOLUTION: This electronic camera for positioning a plurality of images obtained by repeatedly imaging an image of an object field and thereafter synthesizing the images to produce at least one composite image, includes: a mode setting section that includes a plurality of photographing modes for setting photographing conditions in response to objects, sets a positioning region for the positioning of the images in association with each of the photographing modes, and selects a particular photographing mode among the photographing modes; an imaging section that repeatedly images the image of the object field to generate a plurality of images according to the photographing condition in association with the particular photographing mode selected by the mode setting section; and a composite section that positions the plurality of images generated by the imaging section in the positioning region in association with the particular photographing mode selected by the mode setting section and thereafter generates at least one composite image by synthesizing the plurality of images.
