PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To avoid interference between monitors of a vehicle equipped with monitors to monitor the operation of a vehicle sensor and allow a plurality of monitors to function properly. SOLUTION: In case either of the wheel speed sensor signals S1 and S2 is 0 km/h after starting and the other wheel speed sensor signal S2/S1 is normal, the Low mode of a start monitor is executed (refer to Steps S108, S118, S400 in Fig. 2), and in cases otherwise, the High mode of the start monitor and a slip monitor are executed (refer to Steps S108, S112, S200, S300 in Fig. 2), whereby the slip monitor and the Low mode of the start monitor are precluded from being in effect simultaneously, which enables avoiding output of the determination result as failure from two monitors even if there is partial overlapping of the failure determination conditions.
