PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for stably and efficiently manufacturing a polymerization toner having extremely little byproduct fine particles produced during polymerization and depositing on color polymer particles, free from filming and having high durability even when the toner is subjected to long-term printing. SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing a polymerization toner includes a polymerization step of polymerizing a polymerizable monomer composition containing a polymerizable monomer and a colorant in an aqueous medium containing a dispersion stabilizer to produce color resin particles, and a step of cleaning the obtained color polymer particles. The cleaning step includes an acid cleaning step followed by a rinsing step, and a centrifugal separation step. A water dispersion liquid obtained in the acid cleaning step is filtered to separate particles in the rinsing step; the particles are further rinsed with water until a filtrate shows≤1,000μS/cm electric conductivity; then a water dispersion liquid of the particles is again prepared; and the water dispersion liquid obtained in the rinsing step is subjected to centrifugal separation by a specified centrifugal separator in the centrifugal separation step to obtain a polymerization toner having≤40 particles of byproduct fine particles.
