ROLLING/SLIDING COMPONENT, ROLLING BEARING, CAM FOLLOWER, AND SURFACE IMPROVING METHOD FOR ROLLING/SLIDING COMPONENT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a rolling/sliding component and a cam follower using the component at a reduced cost which hardly cause peeling and pitching of a counter member. SOLUTION: The cam follower is equipped with an outer ring 5 used in a state of contacting an opposing cam. The outer ring 5 has a surface layer part from the surface to at least 3μm below the surface having a hardness of Hv 780 to 900, and an inner layer part 10μm or deeper from the surface having a hardness lower than the surface layer part at a hardness of Hv 780 or less. Such hardness can be obtained by soft shot blast working or fluid barrel working to the outer layer part of a base material which becomes the outer ring 5. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
