PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a weft unwinding detector which can supply power to a projector, while avoiding a problem of attachment and the complication of a system. SOLUTION: A plate spring 36 is tightened and fixed with a screw to the peripheral surface of an attaching plate 30 constituting a separation mechanism equipped with a sending member (sending blade 34) for sending a weft Y wound on a weft-winding surface S to separate the wound weft portions from each other. Plate-shaped piezoelectric elements 38, 39 are attached to both the sides of the plate spring 36. A projector 42 is attached to the tip side of a weft winding surface-forming member 21A. Light projected from the projector 42 travels to a region on the outside of a weft-winding surface S through a projection hole 213, and is then received with an optical detector 43.
