PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a base isolation device which can protect a building by efficiently absorbing vibration and impacts when the building undergoes rolling and pitching in all directions. SOLUTION: According to the structure of the base isolation device, a base stand 7 is mounted on an upper portion of a steel pipe pile 3, and a support shaft 8 having a half-spherical portion formed in an upper portion is erected on the base stand 7, followed by mounting a plurality of oil dampers 11 each having a coil spring 10 wound thereon, on the base stand 7 so as to surround the support shaft 8. Further a support pan 14 having a concave surface 15 formed in an upper surface and an accommodating groove 16 formed in the center of a bottom surface, for accommodating therein the upper portion of the support shaft 8, is shakably borne on the upper portion of the support shaft 8, and an upper portion of each oil damper 11 is connected to the bottom surface of the support pan 14, followed by pivotally bearing each of supports 18 which are protruded from a bottom surface of a foundation beam 5 at predetermined intervals and each have a ball bearing 9 attached to a lower edge thereof, on the concave surface 15. In this manner rolling and pitching applied to the support shaft 8 are absorbed and damped by swivel movement of the support pan 14 and the dampers 11 each having the coil spring 10 wound thereon.
