PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tachometer having a light load of operation, and having output display for giving an impression of a natural change of a rotational frequency to a user when rotation of a rotator is stopped. SOLUTION: This tachometer includes a pulse counter 24 for inputting a pulse train synchronized with the rotational frequency of the rotator, and counting an input pulse in each time window repeated successively; an operation part (CPU 30) for determining the rotational frequency successively, based on a pulse counted value acquired successively in each time window by the counting part and on the time length of each time window; and a display part 3 for displaying successively the rotational frequency determined by the operation part. When pulse input is interrupted after a prescribed time window, the operation part determines the rotational frequency based on a pulse counted value in a time window just before interruption of the pulse input and on the time length of a time window elongated according to duration of the time of interruption of the pulse input.
