PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a blade tensioner wherein the number of parts can be reduced and assembly process can be simplified. SOLUTION: The blade tensioner is equipped with a blade shoe 2, having a chain sliding surface 20, wherein a base end part 21 is rotatably supported and a tip end part 22 is slidably supported, a blade spring 3 provided on an opposite side of the chain sliding surface 20 of the blade shoe 2 and a bracket 5 having a pin 50 inserted into a pin hole 21c formed in the base end part 21 of the blade shoe 2 and a sliding surface 52 for slidably supporting the tip end part 22 of the blade shoe 2. A swelling part 21d swelling toward the tip end part 22 side is formed at the base end part 21 of the blade shoe. In the bracket 5, a protruded part 51 for restricting the base end part 21 of the blade shoe from moving sidewise along the pin 50 is provided at a position interfering with the swelling part 21d of the base end part 21 of the blade shoe.
