PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new cleaning agent for the soil contaminated with an organoarsenic compound, by which the organoarsenic compound can be removed at a drastically high rate from even the soil which is contaminated with the organoarsenic compound and from which the organoarsenic compound can not be removed at the high rate, for example, when cleaned by an aqueous solution of phosphoric acid, and also to provide a cleaning method. SOLUTION: The cleaning agent for the soil contaminated with the organoarsenic compound is composed of an aqueous solution containing an aqueous organic solvent and an acid as principal components. Alcohols such as methanol and ethanol or acetic acid, acetone, acetonitrile or the like are used as the aqueous organic solvent.
