PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively steam rice to the upper part of the rice with high-temperature heat by heating the steam stuffed in the upper part of an inner pot during the steaming process to high temperature, and to prevent burning of the rice when the bottom of the inner pot is mainly heated. SOLUTION: The rice cooker comprises a pressure adjusting means 6 disposed on the way of a steam passage 5 in a lid 3 for adjusting the pressure inside the inner pot 2 so that the steam will not escape if the pressure is not more than a prescribed pressure, a switching means 7 for switching the effectiveness/ineffectiveness of the pressure adjusting function of the pressure adjusting means 6, a bottom induction heating means 8 for induction-heating the bottom of the inner pot 2, a side induction-heating means 9 for induction-heating the side surface of the inner pot 2, and a control part 11 for independently controlling the heating of the bottom induction heating means 8 and the side induction heating means 9. The pressure adjusting means 6 is operated by the switching means 7 in the steaming process so that the steam does not escape from the inner pot 2. Also, the side surface of the inner pot 2 is intermittently heated by the side induction heating means 9 and the steam stuffed in the upper part of the inner pot 2 is heated to high temperature by a high-temperature heating control means 13.
