A method and an apparatus for controlling a battery cut off according to a load are provided to improve a life span of a battery by cutting off the battery at a constant pint even if the discharge of the battery is changed according to a change of a system load. A method for controlling a battery cut off according to a load includes the steps of: detecting a current flowing on a load(S10); converting the quantity of the detected current at the current detection step into a voltage(S20); classifying a size of the load according to the size of the signal generated at the current/voltage conversion step(S30); and outputting a battery cut off signal based on the output signal according to the load classifying step(S40).
